Whoever you are, wherever you live, from communities to companies.

By phone and online, 24/7, 365 days a year.

We also share advice on how to protect the people you care about from crime, so everyone can feel safe.

After receiving your call or a completed anonymous online form, we create a report that brings together all the information you gave us, making sure it doesn't contain any information that could identify you.

Your report is sent to the relevant authority with the legal responsibility to investigate crimes, make arrests and charge people in order to bring them to justice. This could be your local police force or an agency such as the UK Border Agency or HM Revenue & Customs.

Devon Safeguarding Adults

Our aim is to help everyone to understand the part they play in protecting adults and ensuring even the most vulnerable are kept safe and well. If you report a concern you will be listened to, supported and involved every step of the way.

Who could be at risk?

It is one of the responsibilities of the Torbay & Devon Safeguarding Adults Board to make sure that health and social care agencies prioritise the wellbeing of all individuals living in Devon. This applies to everyone not only those people with care and support needs who are already engaged with health and social care services.

Devon Children & Families Safeguarding

Children in Devon are best safeguarded when key agencies work together effectively. The Devon Children and Families Partnership is made up of Devon County Council, Devon CCG, South Devon & Torbay CCG and Devon & Cornwall Police. Their aim is to make sure that children and families can get the right support, in the right place at the right time.

The partnership intends to do this by:

  • working together to identify and respond to the needs of children in the area
  • commissioning and publishing local child safeguarding practice reviews
  • making sure the effectiveness of the arrangements are independently scrutinised.

The Devon Children and Families Partnership have a really informative website with lots of resources, guidance, and information around the wellbeing and safety of children, young people and families. The website also details what to do when you believe a child in Devon is at risk of harm or abuse

Samaritans helpline

Whatever you’re facing, a Samaritan will face it with you

Every day, Samaritans volunteers respond to around 10,000 calls for help.

We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis.

We give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And we encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.

We offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.

In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.

Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.

That’s why we work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.
